Poetry

Gentle

You told me to be gentle
as you raised your arms up over your head
we both laughed
as I slid your shirt off of your body
You told me to be gentle
and it felt like a warning
I couldn’t heed
so I just kept rolling
unfolding my limbs
opening and spilling my secrets
against your skin
